Palo Santo – The special scent of sacred wood

Palo Santo translates to "sacred wood". The aromatic wood of Bursera graveolens comes from the dry forest regions of South America and is particularly associated with countries such as Peru and Ecuador.

For generations, Palo Santo has been used as incense wood in various cultural and spiritual traditions there. Its smoke accompanies rituals, prayers and mindful moments and is traditionally associated with cleansing, protection and creating a special atmosphere.

Even when burned for the first time, you can tell what makes Palo Santo so unique. Its scent is warm, sweet and balsamic, with resinous, woody and slightly citrusy nuances. Depending on the wood, softer, almost creamy fragrance notes may also be perceived.

A long tradition in Peru and Ecuador

Palo Santo has a long history as an aromatic and ceremonial wood, particularly in Peru and Ecuador. In various local and spiritual traditions, its smoke is used to prepare spaces, accompany prayers or ceremonies and create a mindful atmosphere.

Ideas of cleansing or protection are part of the respective cultural and spiritual traditions. They should not be understood as scientifically proven effects.

It is precisely this combination of scent, nature and tradition that makes Palo Santo a special incense wood to this day.

A scent that transforms a space

To burn it, one end of the Palo Santo wood is briefly lit. Once a small flame has formed, it is blown out. The wood begins to smoulder and releases its characteristic aromatic smoke.

You can consciously guide the smoke through your room or use Palo Santo before meditation, yoga, a personal ritual or simply for a quiet moment.

Often, a small piece is enough to perceive the typical scent. Palo Santo can therefore be lit multiple times and used over a longer period.

More than just incense wood

Palo Santo invites you to consciously create a moment.

Perhaps you want to perceive your space anew after a long day. Perhaps you are preparing for meditation or a personal ritual. Or you simply love this extraordinary natural scent.

The slow lighting, the rising smoke and the characteristic aroma create a small transition from everyday life to a moment of peace and mindfulness.

With respect for its origin

Palo Santo is not wood from the Amazon rainforest, but comes predominantly from the dry forest regions of the South American Pacific coast, particularly from Peru and Ecuador.

Its cultural history and the traditional ways in which it is used are closely associated with these regions. Therefore, using it consciously also means using Palo Santo with appreciation for its origin, nature and the traditions surrounding this special wood.

Important safety instructions

Use Palo Santo only in well-ventilated rooms and on a fireproof surface. Never leave smouldering wood unattended and keep it away from children, pets and highly flammable materials.

After burning, ensure that the embers have completely died out.
